Design, Fabricate, and Quality Optimization of a Fully Automated Interlocking Brick Manufacturing System

Interlocking bricks are mostly used in existing construction areas. They minimize the amount of mortar required and save time. Brick industries are among the largest industries in the world. Most existing brick-making machines are manual or semi-automated. These machines are very slow and cannot accurately control brick quality. Also, these kinds of machines need more than three workers to operate. There is a need for a low-cost, fully automated interlocking brick-making machine that can produce high-quality bricks at a lower cost. The main goal of this research is to design and develop a fully automated interlocking brick-making system capable of producing high-quality bricks at high production speed. This machine can perform multitasking. Existing machines can do one job at a time. But this machine can perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including mixing, filling, pressing, and brick removal. Load cells measure compressive force, and encoders mix material ratios. This machine uses a microcontroller to control and operate the full machine. The quality of bricks produced by the developed machine is compared with current market standards for compressive strength and brick dimensions. This developed machine can produce bricks of equal or higher quality than those on the market. It helps to reduce human effort. This research project provided a practical, low-cost solution for small- and medium-scale industries. It helps produce high-quality interlocking bricks with uniform performance and high production speed.
